In the south of France to document the original filming locations of Jean-Luc Godards PIERROT LE FOU starring Jean-Paul Belmondo & Anna Karina

Location: Presqu'île de Giens 

It took me a while to understand how Godard switched back and forth between the locations. Marianne is shot on Porquerolles, Ferdinand takes her in his arms and in the next shot he comes to this house on Presqu'île de Giens. Unfortunately it's a private property and you can't really get close to it. The location is fantastic and if you take a boat to Porquerolles you have a view of the house from the sea.

After Marianne has died and Ferdinand has painted his face blue (completed by the master himself), Godard goes back to Porquerolles for the final scene.

The longer I deal with the project, the more I see what I could have done better. And so my moods swing often between enthusiasm, frustration and, last week, sadness...I didn't even have a day for the documentation on Porquerolles, which started with organising, cycling, searching and swearing. Moreover, it should have made me wonder a bit that everyone else rented an e-bike but not me....So if I go there again, more time or more sporty condition...

"I only want to talk about cinema, why talk about anything else? With the cinema we talk about everything, we get to everything."

I was in the middle of preparing what might be the last post of my documentation of the Pierrot le Fou locations when I heard the news... For months now I have been busy photographing, sifting through the 1500+ pictures that I have been taken, editing, compiling and looking for ways to present them. So every day is somehow a Godard day and therefore this loss makes me very sad and sentimental.

Thank you Jean-Luc Godard for so many great movies, art and inspiration and a unique spirit. The world of cinema lovers will never forget you.
